In this era of global work, economy and digitalizing society, it is important to learn about professional and international skills in intenational environment before entering work life.
Salpaus Further Education provides its students with the opportunity to learn these skills.

We provide opportunities for students to work and study abroad as part of their study programme. Our staff is developing their competences in international cooperation.

Our objectives for our international cooperation are

  • to train students for internationally oriented work life
  • to develop competences of our staff members in international cooperation
  • to develop education in international cooperation.

Salpaus is a multidisciplinary vocational education and training (VET) provider offering EQF 4 and 5 level vocational qualifications.

Salpaus Further Education have Erasmus+ accreditation for 2021-2027

EU Erasmus+ programme is our main funding mechanism in international cooperation.
We were awarded with Erasmus+ Mobility Charter for 2018 – 2020.

International mobility

Student mobility


All our students are offered equal opportunities to complete their on-the-job training in work life or study period in our partner VETs abroad.

We use different Erasmus+ student mobility funding categories, depending on the students needs

  • short-term mobility for training and learning
  • group mobility for students with fewer opportunities and
  • international skills competition (“Friendly competition”) between VET partners.

Annually 80 – 100 Salpaus students complete mobilities abroad (5 – 89 days).

Reciprocally, Salpaus receives foreign students from its partner VETs to work placements with companies in our region or to study period with our students in practical workshops or simulated learning environments.

The most popular target countries for mobilities have been Malta, Spain, Germany and equally in Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, the Netherlands and Nordic countries (in total over 20 different country destinations). Outside Europe Salpaus is cooperation with Singapore and Taiwan.

Staff mobility and their competence development

Annually 70 – 80 staff members are developing their own professional or their team’s skills and competences abroad.

The opportunities include:

  • 3 to 5 day study visits abroad
  • International network meetings and seminars
  • Job shadowing with in VET education
  • Preparatory visits to start new cooperation with VET
  • International skills competitions
  • We receive annually 50 – 70 teachers and other staff for staff mobility period which is great opportunity to learn from each other.

Developing education in international partnership projects

Salpaus is developing its education also in international cooperation mainly with its European partner VETs in EU Erasmus + Key Action 2, Cooperation Partnership projects.

Development projects involve sharing knowledge, experimenting, innovating and developing new pedagogical solutions and learning materials.

International partnerships

Salpaus is an active player in regional, national and international and is continuously developing its international partnerships.

Salpaus is an active member in several international networks:

  • EfVET – European Forum of Technical and Vocational Education and Training
  • NoN – Network of networks with partners HETEL from Basque country ES, the Dutch Alliance from the Netherlands, The City of Glasgow College and  from North Ireland and Scotland, The City of Dublin FET College from Ireland and Finn-Net from Finland (Finn-Net members are Salpaus, Gradia, Tredu and Varia)
  • Innotecs – International Network of Technical Schools
  • NETINVET – European network promoting recognised mobility for VET learners in international trade and retail and in logistics

In addition Salpaus has over 30 individual vocational education and training institutions as close cooperation partners.
