Salpaus Further Education

Salpaus is a forerunner in vocational education in Finland, where annually about 13,000 adults and young people find their own path.

We have over 640 enthusiastic teachers and staff members who create a culture of bold learning and the joy of doing. 

Salpaus offers a wide range of mainly Finnish-language educational options, such as basic vocational qualifications, vocational and specialist qualifications, as well as combination qualifications where you can combine a basic vocational qualification with upper secondary education.

Additionally, we provide training for certifications and licenses, preparatory education, vocational education for athletes, staff and continuing education, workforce training, and integration training for immigrants. 

Salpaus Further Education was established on January 1, 2001, and the principal is Ms Päivi Saarelainen.

Salpaus Further Education Joint Municipal Authority

The Ministry of Education and Culture grants funding for the provision of vocational education within the limits of the state budget appropriation and the municipalities’ financial contribution.

Salpaus Further Education Joint Municipal Authority has a turnover of 71,2 million euros (in 2024) and consists of ten member municipalities: Asikkala, Hartola, Heinola, Hollola, Kuhmoinen, Kärkölä, Lahti, Orimattila, Padasjoki and Sysmä.  

Salpaus Further Education Joint Municipal Authority and its subsidiary, Salpaus-palvelut Oy, form a group. The joint municipal authority operates as a regional education provider in accordance with legislation, coordinating secondary vocational education, additional and continuing education, and adult education on behalf of its member municipalities.

Additionally, it provides paid educational services and participates in regional and business development projects. 

The mission of the joint municipal authority is to develop vocational education and employment services effectively and innovatively for the benefit of the region. Through this, we aim to improve the competitiveness of local businesses and work communities. 

The managing director of the joint municipal authority is Mr Martti Tokola.

Salpaus-palvelut Oy

Salpaus-palvelut Oy is a subsidiary of the Salpaus Further Education Joint Municipal Authority, offering integration training for immigrants, customized training for companies, vocational training to deepen and complement professional skills, and joint procurement training. 

In addition to extensive degree-oriented education, Salpaus Further Education provides diverse and high-quality non-degree training, which allows you to develop your professional skills and acquire or update the necessary qualifications and certification cards. 

Salpaus-palvelut Oy was established on January 1, 2017, and the managing director is Mr Martti Tokola.
