Fazer has chosen Salpaus Further Education as its Strategic Partner

Fazer, one of the leading food sector companies in the Nordic countries, has selected Salpaus Further Education as its strategic partner.

Two women are standing in front of a sign with the Fazer logo. One is blonde and wearing a black hoodie with an orange logo. The other has curly hair, glasses, a red headband, and a black zip-up jacket. The background is yellow.

Through the partnership, Fazer aims to ensure the availability of skilled labour and to develop the competence of its personnel. The partnership deepens the already existing cooperation between Fazer and Salpaus.

We have engaged in a versatile cooperation with Salpaus for a long time. Our cooperation has been systematic and flexible, and Salpaus has been able to meet our needs well. Deepening this cooperation into a strategic partnership was a natural next step.

“As a result, we can better respond to key strategic challenges related to skills and labour availability,” says Anu Tamminen, HR Director of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain of Confectionery from Fazer.

The partnership will deepen the cooperation between Fazer and Salpaus in training and facilitate encounters between skilled people

The partnership will increase cooperation between Fazer and Salpaus, especially in the implementation of multidisciplinary education. At this stage, the cooperation includes not only artisan baker training but also process industry and sales training for Fazer personnel, as well as the development of maintenance and automation competence. The personnel needs of a possible new chocolate factory are also considered in the cooperation.

Fazer currently has six educational institutions as its strategic partner. Salpaus is one of two vocational institutions Fazer has partnered with. Other educational institutions are universities in Finland and abroad.

“It’s great that our cooperation is becoming deeper. We can promote encounters between the labour force and the employer in Päijät-Häme, as well as anticipate future skills needs together in various areas,” says Director Henna Erkamo from Salpaus.

The cooperation also includes increasing the opportunities for encounters between Salpaus students and Fazer, as well as developing education paths and training for Fazer’s needs.
“We already know each other well, which will facilitate the pursuit towards our common goals. Together, we will plan education paths that meet Fazer’s needs, as well as look for solutions to increase the retention and attractiveness of the food sector. We will meet regularly, and will also actively develop our cooperation,” Erkamo continues.
