Road Map to Sustainability Solutions in Finnish VET
A few years ago, Salpaus, together with over 60 vocational colleges in Finland completed an overall road map to sustainability solutions in Finnish VET.
A few years ago, Salpaus, together with over 60 vocational colleges in Finland completed an overall road map to sustainability solutions in Finnish VET. The road map functions as a tool in the sustainability work of all VET institutions.
Today, the work continues in the Kartalla – på Kartan network that implements the sustainability road map for VET. The network also provides tools, support and peer learning.
The objectives of the sustainability road map
Management, leadership, and organization culture
The management of a VET organization is committed to building a sustainable future and takes it into action together with personnel and students.
Pedagogical solutions and learning environments
Sustainability is integrated in teaching, learning and learning environments.
Personnel competence and professional identity
Continuous professional development is essential. Personnel competence responds to the needs of future working life, society and the planet.
Partnership
Together with our partners we renew vocational education and training and working life to become more responsible and sustainable.
Carbon neutrality
The joint goal of the Finnish VET is to be carbon neutral in 2035. There is a tool made to measure the carbon footprint of a VET organization. The actions taken support reducing the footprint and developing education and training.
Salpaus road map of sustainability
Salpaus is committed to operate in a sustainable way. We are on our way to applying for a national sustainable development certificate for teaching and training as well as another one for catering, maintenance and administration services.
We have an on-line course on sustainable development for all our personnel run by our expert teachers. The staff at Salpaus catering services have been developing plant protein recipes for professional kitchens and bakeries for over a decade.
And these are only a few examples of the road map of Salpaus.
